Mid-week Walks

The nights are drawing in so our Mid-week Walks move to the daylight hours.

It's still pretty dark so we'll be running Mid-week daytime walks through the Spring months again.
So, hold on, here's the season's full programme....

It seems that you now have to pay to use the Cwmcarn Forest carparks so you might want to consider car sharing from Blackvein Road.

One of our members organises walks for the visually impaired on the third Thursday of each month and all Ramblers of all abilities are welcome.

Thursday 12th January 2012	Machen Farms Leave car park at top of Waunfawr Park at 9:30 am. Moderate - 6 miles
Thursday 19th January 2012	Rhiwderin Linear walk with a Pub lunch! So money for food and bus fare Leave car park at top of Waunfawr Park at 9:30 am. Moderate - 6 miles
Thursday 26th January 2012	Twmbarlwm Leave Lower car park at Risca Leisure Centre at 9:30 a.m. Moderate - 6 miles
Thursday 2nd February 2012	Rhyswg Definately not the same route as last time! Last time - left, this time - right Leave lower car park at Cwmcarn Forest at 9:30 am. Moderate - 6 miles
Thursday 9th February 2012	Ochrwyth A tail-chasing circular walk. Leave Blackvein Road at 9:30 a.m. Moderate - 6 miles
Thursday 16th February 2012	Twmbarlwm Isn't that the one with the pimple? Leave Blackvein Road at 9:30 a.m. Moderate (but up!) - 6 miles
Thursday 23th February 2012	Mynydd Islwyn A linear walk with a pub lunch. You might need bus fare to get back ?? Leave car park at top of Waunfawr Park at 9:30 am. Who knows how far and how steep ??
Thursday 1st March 2012	Mynydd Maen and next week it'll be Mynydd Yours Leave car park near Abercarn Primary School at 9:30 a.m. Moderate - 6 miles
Thursday 8th March 2012	Nant Carn Valley Lunch at the visitors centre afterwards. Leave some room for your pudding. Leave lower car park at Cwmcarn Forest at 9:30 am. Moderate - 6 miles
Thursday 15th March 2012	Mynydd Islwyn Can you 'bag' Mynydds as you can with Munros? Leave Welfare Ground, Abercarn at 9:30 a.m. Moderate - 6 miles
Thursday 22nd March 2012	Pen y Cwarel "There's a bright golden haze on the meadow"..... Maggie's words, not mine - time for her medication I think. Leave River Bridge, Cwmfelinfach at 9:30 am. Moderate - 6 miles
Thursday 29th March 2012	Mynydd Islwyn Not necessarily the same bit as last time, though Leave Full Moon, Crosskeys at 9:30 a.m. Moderate - 6 miles

Thursday 26th April 2012	Pontllanfraith A linear walk via Hafod Tudor with pub lunch at the end. Leave car park at top of Waunfawr Park at 9:30 am. Possibly Moderate and 6 miles but there again.....

Thursday 22nd December 2011	in the Forest (New? Sherwood? Black?) Leave lower car park Cwm Carn Forest at 9:30 a.m. So that means it's the Cwmcarn Forest. Moderate - 6 mile.
Thursday 29th December 2011	Mynydd Maen, returning via Gwyddon Valley Burn off those Christmas calories. Leave Car Park at top of Waunfawr Park at 9:30 a.m. Moderate - 6 mile.
